[ 02 ] How to read the Summit

Markers, rotation, data.

The Summit runs on a canvas, not a video, so it stays smooth on old hardware and pauses the moment it leaves the screen. The Sphere turns the planet; the Chart lays the same 2,222 coordinates out flat.

Markers

Each square is a volcano from the catalogue. Red squares pulse because those volcanoes are erupting now, amber holds an eruption on record, green sits dormant and grey is extinct.

Rotation

The Sphere turns slowly on its own: drag anywhere to take over, let go and it keeps your momentum. The Chart holds still until you slide it, and hovering any marker pauses everything.

Data

Hover opens a tooltip with name, country, elevation, eruptive status and rarity. Prefer lists? Pick a name from the panel instead.

Prefer the spreadsheet

The same volcanoes, filterable down to one.
